happy halloween!

These two characters would like to wish you a VERY happy halloween!
Hope there are lots of treats and very few tricks in store for you today!

{G & I with Joan Jett and Harrow from Boardwalk Empire}
I have to say... Guy as a redneck was pretty damn funny. Especially since we made his shirt. I had to make him promise not to wear it after Halloween!
I was pretty proud of my Clockwork Orange costume as well. It's not quite as good as Mayra's but I put it together last minute and *most* people knew who I was. And for those of you that haven't seen Clockwork Orange... it's a must see. Disturbing but good.

Did you dress up for Halloween?? What were you?

i tip my hat to you nordstroms.

A friend of mine on Facebook posted this picture he took at his local Nordstrom's:

I have to say. I'm on board. I hate feeling rushed.
So thank you Nordstroms... for not shoving Christmas down our throats until the calendar warrants it. (which if you're wondering, is 12:01a November 26th)

adventures in kentucky: part two

On our last day in Kentucky, we went to the Keenland Race Track. Truth be told, we picked the weekend we went much because Keeneland was running. I had been before but Guy had not and it truly is an experience. The horses are such much more beautiful than any picture can convey.
{a view of the track}

{before the horses run, they parade around a smaller track so you can get a better view}

{waiting for the first race to begin!}

{aren't they amazing?!}

I know I promised some dancing pictures but after reviewing them... they're a bit too incriminating for the blog. Late night dancing after day drinking does not a blog post make.

adventures in kentucky: part one

Guy and I got back from one of the most fun vacations we've had in a while. My perfect vacation includes beautiful scenery, great people, good food, and lots of music. Kentucky managed to fulfill all of this and more. If you haven't been, particulary to Lexington, add it to your 'must' list. You won't be disappointed between the rolling hills, horse farms, and beautiful neighborhoods.
{Maggie is THE best hostess}

{Kentucky Ale and Po'Boys make for a great Lexington lunch}

{waiting for our Woodfood Reserve distillery tour}

{learning about some bourbon!}

{bourbon balls & bourbon!}

{maggie's parents farm. a truly peaceful slice of life}

{love me some cows. it's the Wisconsin in me}

{scenes from the farm}

{sunset on a perfect Kentucky evening}

Next up... Keeneland horse races! And maybe some dancing.
If you know me at all... there is ALWAYS dancing.

everytime she closed her eyes she dreamed of paradise.

A few things...
1. I love this song
2. I love this video (hello, dancing elephant? Sold.)
3. I'm excited for this album (which was not the case after their first single dropped a few months back)

oh toms...why must you make us wait until spring 2012!?

Have you heard the fabulous news?
Toms is releasing a ballet flats line spring of next year. And from the few promotional pictures they're releasing, they are going to be H-O-T.

I'll take one of each please.

spied: long sleeve dresses

Lately I've been drawn to dresses with long sleeves. I bought one dress last year with sleeves that peaked my interest initially and have ever since have kept my eye on the beauties.
I think I hit the jackpot of sleeved dresses at ASOS. Have any of you shopped there? I haven't and I'm a bit intimidated by it because there is so much to look at. It's also international so I have no clue my size. Anyone know if they run pretty true to size?

How's a girl to choose with so much loveliness??

excuses.

Ugh... I'm feeling terrible this morning. Not sick :cough cough: terrible.... more 'I ate a McDonald's cheeseburger last night and missed my workout this morning' terrible.
I'm not one to deprive myself, which you know since just about every picture of food I post is fried, but lately I've been feeling just 'meh' about myself. I'm realizing I need to stop making excuses, ramp up my workouts, and start eating food that will make me feel good about myself.
I need motivation friends. Have any to share???

lisbeth and i have a date on Christmas...

I've mentioned previously how much I looooooved the Dragon Tattoo series and I know I'll love the movie series equally as much. I mean come on... anyone that can make Rooney Mara go from this...

to this.....

...has me sold. I will be first in line on opening night. Hey, at least it isn't the Harry Potter series and I won't be wearing a cape and having a faux scar on my forehead right??

See you December 25th!

damn you martha.

Seriously...Martha Stewart makes the majority of us look like it's amateur hour when it comes to home decorating. I was proud of my fall/Halloween decor until I saw these ideas...time to step up my game!

Pretty amazing right? Maybe I'll get my act together for Christmas!
Enjoy your Monday!

what i'm loving.

TGIF friends... I know I'm been MIA this week. I blame work and sleep deprivation. Hopefully I'll be back to my regular scheduled programming next week!
I thought I'd close out my week by sharing some links and items that I'm loving.....
THIS hilarious letter to Ryan Gosling.
THIS speech given by Steve Jobs in 2005.
THIS Etsy shop of beautiful jewelry that is the closest thing to wearing a love letter you can get.
THIS quote stated by the one and only Bob Marley.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Cheers!

RIP Steve Jobs.

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

a celebratory weekend.

Happy October! My favorite month of the year! We celebrated the start of October with a busy weekend filled with family and football. Saturday night we had my parents over to celebrate my dad's birthday. We (mostly Guy... let's be honest) made an Italian feast since my parents were suppose to be in Italy for my dad's birthday but sadly the trip fell through. Thus, we brought Italy to them!
 We started the evening with Italian cheeses and meats. And yes, that's a puzzle on the table. I'm obsessed and can't be stopped. I might as well be 60.
Who's observant and noticed my cheese board is in the shape of Wisconsin? You can take the girl outta Wisconsin but you can't take the Wisconsin outta the girl.

Guy made bolognase for dinner and we had an Italian Chianti but the vineyard we visited during our trip to Italy last year. And don't judge me for my awful Ikea table and chairs. We're waiting until we buy a new home to upgrade but I'd LOVE ideas on how to make this table and chairs better now if you've got any ideas!

We had my parents over Saturday night specifically so we could watch Wisconsin roll over Nebraska! Fortunately that prediction came true!

And speaking of football...did I mention that I'm obsessed with Friday Night Lights? How did I not watch this show when it was on primetime?! It's so damn good!

The rest of the weekend was spent recovering from Saturday and preparing for my busy week. I'm off to Washington DC today for work and will be there through Wednesday. It's going to be a ridiculously busy week but one that I look forward to all year.

Hope everyone had a fun start to their October! Fall is officially here!!
xoxo
