thursday threads: 6.30.11

Today's post...Thursday threads for the week! You'll notice I only have 4 for the week. Honestly I don't know what happened to the 5th outfit? Hopefully it'll reappear for next week. : )

My favorite piece from the week: My white sundress in picture three. I bought it for my rehearsal dinner but ended up wearing a different dress so hadn't worn this before. Actually...now that I'm thinking about it... everyday I wore something I hadn't wore before.
Not sure if that is a good or bad thing... but I'm going to assume a good thing.
What you need to know: I love sundresses. If I could wear a sundress everyday, I would. (And let's be honest... I'm well on my way to being able to... I have an entire closet of sundresses. Some may call it a problem.)

Wishing you a happy Thursday!

recipe: kinda, sorta homemade fried mozzarella sticks

Guy came home from work last night with the random idea of making fried mozzarella sticks.
Thank the sweet heaven above because they were ahhhhhhhmazing.
I swear we don't fry food all that often. Although we may or may not have friend okra the night before.
That's neither here nor there.
On to the kinda, sorta homemade friend mozzarella sticks!

Start with packaged string cheese, cut in half, dredge in egg & breadcrumbs and fry away!

Fry those pups up until golden brown...

And voila!!!!
Dip in marinara sauce and enjoy!

Definitely try these when you're ready to be the most gluttonous version of yourself. They're hard to put down.
Happy Tuesday!

ocean breeze and salt air.

Without planning it, Guy and I spent the entire weekend at the beach. It was the perfect way to wind down before arguably the most stressful work week of our year. I think our subconscious knew this...
We spent Saturday afternoon on Sullivan's Island with friends, and then turned around and went to Isle of Palms for dinner and a beach walk.

Sunday we got up, threw the kayaks on the car (easier said than done) and kayaked in the creeks off of Daniel Island. Pretty much the perfect way to wind down on a weekend filled with ocean breeze and salt air.

{can you see the wee little crabs??}

Hope you were able to rest and relax this weekend.

(Who watched True Blood last night?? So good!!!)

thursday threads

Recently I've made an effort to 'shop' in my own closet to help avoid the temptation to shop every week. Trust me, if money was no object, this girl would live in your local Anthropologie. Alas, this is not realistic but what is realistic is making the most out of my already vast wardrobe.
I thought about doing 30 for 30 but to be honest... I'm not ready. Only wearing 30 items for the next 30 days is a bit extreme, especially when it's 100 degrees out and I sweat through 8 outfits a day (not really, obviously, but I bet there are people that do. Shit is hot outside).
So instead of 30 for 30... I'm holding myself accountable to my new 'Thursday Threads' post. I'm going to shop in my own closet, create outfits I haven't worn before, and save my money for more important things like a new house, travel, and Moe's nachos.

So here's week one. Notice there aren't 7 outfits. This would be because there's at least one day a week where I don't get out of my pajamas and another day where I can't be bothered to look cute. Just being honest here.

My favorite piece from the week... My necklace from picture one from Francesca's. Super cute, affordable, and different! (I'll work on getting better pictures so you can actually see the details.)
Biggest surprise from the week....My metallic shorts from picture two. I've had those for three years and never worn them. After getting complimented by almost every woman I work with, me thinks I shall be wearing them more often. I know it doesn't look like it from the picture but it's a lot of leg and I thought I looked like a head on legs...kind of like my nephew's interpretation of people (as seen below).

{Picasso in the making}

What you need to know... IT'S HOT OUTSIDE. I'm talking heat index of 110. This means I

a)don't dry my hair
b)can't be bothered to do anything with my hair
 c) hate my hair and have decided to cut it.

So there you have it! I'm going to work on the format of this post over the next few weeks but I'm excited at the prospect of keeping this up. Let me know what you think and play along if you're so inspired!

facebook strategery.

Facebook intrigues me. It's truly like each person has their own strategy when manuevering Facebook.
To friend or not to friend?
To like or not to like?
To tag?
To poke? (wait... does poking exist still?)

I recently got to thinking about this because I've seen a few Facebook friends post about 'cleaning' their Facebook friend list.
Honestly, I would have never thought to do this. Do you do this? There's no right or wrong... just doesn't even cross my mind.
And then there's Friend Requests. We've all gotten them...the person requests you but you aren't sure who they are. Or you know who they are but you don't want to open up your daily ramblings to them. My personal favorite is the girl that was a total B to the izzo to you in high school now wants to be friends with you. My oh my how 10 years and technology can change a person!
So what do you do? Leave them hanging in limbo? Immediately decline?

So hit me with it..... what's your Facebook strategy?
xoxo

PS Who can name where the term 'strategery' was coined??

father's day bike ride

We had the perfect Father's Day, albeit one day early. Guy and I went to my parents house to celebrate with my sweet dad and ended up taking a bike ride to our favorite brunch spot on the island Laura Albert's.
Brunch was fantastic but nothing beats taking the beach cruisers out with my folks and talking in the sights on Daniel Island.

{love this tree & view}

{homeward bound}
{happy father's day dad!}

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
And for anyone that cares... T minus 6 days until True Blood is back! Eeee!

one friday i'm not thankful for

I'm in meetings all day today. This is how I feel about these meetings.

You know your Friday is bad when you're looking forward to standing in line at the Social Security office later in the day.
Be jealous.
Hope your Friday is more exciting than mine!

our wedding: dance party! (otherwise known as reception)

And finally... our wedding reception. We danced for four hours straight, didn't stop smiling, and truly had the night of our lives!

{our first dance to bob marley's waiting in vain}

{no girl loves their dad more}

{the rain gave way to the most gorgeous spring evening}

{the Cotton Dock at twilight}

{don't remember taking this picture and definitely didn't have time to eat the cupcake!}

{my wonderful brothers David and Todd}

{dancing with my sweet niece Lauren}

{Guy and I know how to get down}

{our work crew... some of the best friends you can ask for}

{reliving some of our college dance moves}

{getting low with my new nieces!}

{my ladies representing on the dance floor!}

{might be one of my favorites...}

{the perfect exit to the evening!}

{leaving the best night of our lives....}

And there it is.... our wedding in pictures. I'm not going to lie... I'm probably going to be looking at these pictures everyday for at least the next year. I just can't help myself.
Thank you for being so sweet and sharing in our day. I cherish all of your warm comments.

our wedding location

Alright friends... back to the wedding. I wanted to share some photos from our location because I truly believe it set the tone for our wedding. We wanted something that was simple, beautiful, and true to Charleston... the city that we love so much. The Cotton Dock at Boone Hall Plantation was our perfect place.

{the entrance to the Cotton Dock}

{the mantle which my mom and I created the concept for and turned out perfectly!}

{the perfect lounge area}

{our cupcake table!}

{The Mighty Kicks - one of the best decisions we made!}

{our photo clothes line in the back of the Cotton Dock to display four years of memories together}

{the dock... post ceremony and pre party!}

Looking at these pictures makes me so happy. I hope I can always close my eyes and transport back to that night.
One final wedding post.... the reception!

playing tourist.

Guy and I decided to spend our Sunday in downtown Charleston being tourists in our own city. It was the perfectly sunny (and hot!) day for it. We had brunch at the delicious High Cotton, walked around King Street, and had cocktails at the Library at Vendue.

{beautiful King Street}

{Charleston Place fountain}

{historic carriage ride}

{view of Charleston from the top of Vendue}

{sippin' cocktails}

Oh how I love Charleston...

Come back tomorrow for more wedding pictures! I promise... I'm close to being done!

beautiful adornments.

I figured I'd give you a breather from my wedding post parade with some gorgeous jewelry I stumbled upon. Mali Sabatasso's work is organic and lovely in every way. I wouldn't know where to begin in picking a piece!

All pieces from the Earth collection.

So lovely right?!
And speaking of lovely... thank you for your sweet and kind words over the past few days. I can't wait to shre more about our location and reception next week!
Have a wonderful weekend!
