upcycled vertical garden

I think this is the perfect garden if you live in an urban area, have a small patio with no yard, are passionate about recycling, or like cool, unique things. Personally, I fit one or two of those and I LOVE the idea.
I give to you.... turning a palette into a garden!

Found here, with directions on how to create your own!
Happy Tuesday!

recipe: strawberry and cream muffins

I feel like I've seen strawberry and cream muffins all over the place; in magazines, on Pinterest, and Food Network. I took it as an omen that I needed to make some.
Let me tell you... these quickly became a new favorite and will be something I make often!

I followed a Nigela Lawson recipe. It's as simple of a baking recipe as you can get.

Ingredients
 1 cup strawberries, diced into quarter inch pieces
 1 squeeze of lemon juice
 1 cup flour
 1/2 cup sugar
 1 tsp. baking powder
 1/4 cup vegetable oil
 1/3 cup sour cream
 1 tsp. vanilla extra
 1 egg
 1 tsp. powdered sugar

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 400 and line mini muffin tins with baking cups.
2. Put diced strawberries in a bowl and spritz lemon juice on them and stir.
3. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, sugar, and baking powder.
4. In a small bowl, beat together oil, sour cream, vanilla, and egg. Pour mixture over dry ingredients, stirring to combine with a wooden spoon. Fold in strawberries.
5. Divide batter into paper cups evenly. Back for 12-14 minutes (mine were done in 12 minutes).
6. Place on a wire rack to cool. Once cool, shake sieve of powdered sugar over muffins.

Make these! You won't regret it!

i like watching the puddles gather rain.

10 points for you if you know what song or band my post title is from!
Today is a rainy, dreary Friday and I'm loving it. Guy and I got our marriage license today (at the Coroner's officer no less). I got my work done and out of the way and plan to have a good dinner and finish off the evening with Water for Elephants.

Oh how I love a rainy day.

Happy Weekend Loves!

i want to be recreated out of wood.

This is what I said when I ordered my cupcake topper for the wedding.
I found enamorweddings on Etsy and knew immediately I had found the artist to create our custom cupcake toppers.
I mean come on... these are adorable right?

So I put my order in, sent a picture of Guy and I, and voila!
Our wooden doppelgangers.
Guy with his gray suit and yellow tie.
Me with my yellow flowers and side ponytail.

We may not have lips but I do have rosy cheeks!

15 days and counting.
Oh my.

lovely little gifts for the kitchen.

I'm always looking for fun gift ideas to keep on hand for when the occasion arises.
You know...a new home gift, thank you gift, or 'just because' gift.
I think I found some gems in my recent searches...

{perhaps the most gorgeous teacups ever}

{earthy, twig cheese knives}

{milk bottle measuring cups}

{cuter than cute owl measuring cups}

{sweet spice jars}

Do you have a favorite shop to find cute kitchen & dining gifts?

diy lemon body salt scrub

I saw this picture online a few weeks back and saved it knowing that I wanted to try it soon.
Soon came this past weekend and it was a success! A success mostly because it's the easiest thing ever.

Recipe linked above. I used less almond oil, more salt, and more orange and lemon zest.
Worked perfectly!

Let me know if you try it!
In other news, I went to my dear friend Margo's wedding this past weekend and I just had to post a picture or two. It was such a lovely night and I couldn't be happier for my sweet friend!

{walking down the aisle}

{the bride and I!}

So there's my weekend... some DIY, a lovely wedding, and a whole lot of relaxation.
How was yours?

ballet barre... I'm in love!

I think I found it friends.
Found the workout that is for me.
For years I've ran, done bootcamp, and random DVD's to work out. Never loving any of it but doing it because it makes me feel healthier, better, and keeps me young.
Well move aside lackluster workouts! I've found ballet barre and I'm in love.

No, we don't dress in tutu's and pointe shoes.(I wish!) But we do exhaust the muscle groups one at a time and it's seriously the best workout I've ever done. Fortunately for me, my bootcamp instructor is a former professional ballerina so she turned out morning traditional bootcamp into ballet barre class.
It's kicking my butt and I'm loving it!

After the wedding I'm going to join another barre class on the off bootcamp days.
I don't work out at night.
I drink and eat at night. And watch TV. And surf Pinterest.
This should tell you something people.

Anyone else loving/doing barre classes? I know there are different types and methods - what are your favorites??

state pride.

I am one of those people that takes great pride in where I've come from (Wisconsin, by way of Georgia) and where I am (South Carolina). I wear this pride around my neck with a Maya Brenner 'Wisconsin' necklace that I adore.

While I recommend Maya's work to everyone I know, I do always cringe a bit because her pieces are a bit on the pricey side (but worth every penny).
Enter yesterday. I was browsing the interwebs and happened upon Kris Nations jewelry line.  A couple of reasons I already love her:

1. She uses recycled metals.
2. She has $6 flat rate shipping.
3. She makes beautiful work!

Speaking of beautiful work... she has lovely state necklaces that are *gasp* affordable!

Pretty adorable right?
So what do you think? Would you wear your state pride around your neck?

yay or nay: jumpsuits

I expect some varying opinions on the topic of jumpsuits. And honestly, I have no clue which way I lean. Sometimes I feel they totally work and sometimes I can't stand the sight.
What do you think?
{a floral disaster of a jumpsuit}

{Heidi can pull anything off}

{meh}

{I *think* I like this... not sure though?}

{notsomuch}

{hate the v which means I hate the jumpsuit}

{only works if you're trying to hide your ankle bracelet}

{malin looks darling}

So hit me with it - yay or nay?
