showered with love.

My wedding festivities officially kicked off on Saturday with my wedding shower! It was such a lovely morning and I couldn't be more thankful to the friends and family that showed me so much love.
My very sweet friends Allison, Leslie, and Maggie threw the shower for me and it couldn't have been better.

{Maggie, Les (our mom-to-be!), me, and Allison}

The decor was perfect. They incorporated my wedding colors (yellow & gray) everywhere and it made me even more excited to see it all come together on my big day!

We ate a delicious brunch, played a hilarious game, and opened gifts! How lucky am I?!

{Kel, Margo, Les, and I}

{Calder, Whitney & Judy... all some of my favorite ladies!}

{Cheryl, me, my mom, and Judy}

My face still hurts from smiling so much! I truly feel lucky....
Only two months to go until the big day!!!

shake it like a polaroid picture

I have many cameras. One could say I'm a camera hoarder.
My favorite camera has to be my 1980 something polaroid camera. No picture gives me greater joy than the ones produced from that little guy. My issue, however, is how to display the little beauties. So I turned to Pinterest and found some great inspiration.

You better believe I'll be tackling this project in the near future.
Happy Thursday!

all that glitters.

Monique Lhuillier's spring 2011 collection is beyond dreamy. It's full of ruffles, color, and of course sequins.
Ya'll remember that I love sequins right?

Since I can't afford those beauties... I thought I would find some more affordable (and wearable!) pieces inspired by their gorgeousness.

sequin dream

Nothing like a little sparkle and shimmer to make a woman feel beautiful....
Hope ya'll are having a wonderful Wednesday!

recipe: cookies & cream brownies.

Sunday night Guy and I had a lovely little dinner at home but we didn't have anything for dessert so I took it upon myself to try something new and I'm oh so glad I did! I saw this recipe for cookies and cream (oreo) brownies and I knew I needed to try it.

The ingredients:

{brownie mix, oreos, 1 egg, 1/3 cup vegetable oil, and cookies 'n cream ice cream}

So ridiculously simple. Make the brownies as instructed on the box (minus the water). Add ice cream. You can also add hot sauce, at room temperature, if desired.
Spread 1/2 the brownie mixture in your pan and layer oreos on top.

Spread the other 1/2 of the mixture on top and cook according to the brownie box.

And there you have it! Gooey, chocoloately goodness! So much better than your standard 'ol brownie.
Anyone tried these before? I think my next feat will be the oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies. Oh yeah.

jewelry lusting.

The second I saw Deka Ray jewelry I knew someday a piece would be mine. And while that day hasn't come (yet), I'm preparing for the day it does.
Here are some of my favorites:

Don't you love when you find a new jewelry designer or piece to covet?
These are officially on my wish list.

recipe: frozen banana bites.

Thanks to Pinterest, which led me here, I found the perfect Monday night dessert recipe.
Frozen Banana Bites.
Oh boy.
These little beauties are delicious, chocoloately, and the best part. EASY.

{little bite size bits of goodness}

{chocolate & peanut butter? yes please}

So you want to make these? Oh so easy.... all you need is 2 bananas, 1/4 cup of peanut butter, & 1/4 cup of chocolate chips. Melt the chocolate and peanut butter together. Dip bite size pieces of your banana into the melted mix. Sprinkle them with something festive (I did red sprinkles; the original recipe used coconut flakes). Place them on wax paper and freeze, preferrably over night.
I'm telling you...if you like bananas, you'll looooove these. The bananas taste like banana ice cream.

Enjoy!

valentine fondue night a success!

Our Valentine fondue night is officially a success. While we do this every year, we don't always hit the right note between types of cheese, amount of cheese, and amount of wine. We nailed it tonight.
Go us!
(For those of you wondering.... swiss and gruyere work best.... with just a splash of white wine)

{getting melty....}

{our perfect mix of veggies}
{also condusive to meatless monday! our second week!}

The success of fondue night was also directly related to the following two factors:

{beautiful flowers from Guy}

{my sweet gus}

 And you're probably wondering why the hell I'm blogging ON Valentine's night.
That would be because Guy is watching House.
He can consider this my Valentine gift to him.
He's usually forced to give up the TV for The Bachelorette....

Hope ya'll are enjoying your Valentine evening!
Stay tuned tomorrow for what I whipped up as a Valentine treat!
xoxo

happy valentines day... if you're into that kind of thing.

Happy Valentine's Day my loves!

As mentioned, Valentine's isn't all that important of a holiday to me but what it does mean is yummy, good treats! I think I'll be hitting my favorite local bakery today for some delicious cupcakes for dessert tonight!
Guy and I aren't going out (we have a tradition of doing fondue at home on Valentine's Day) but if we were... I think I may like to wear this.

martha stewart inspired.

I mentioned I had one more Valentine inspired DIY and here it is! I was inspired by this photo from Martha Stewart.

I knew I had to make my own version. Unfortunately when I got to the grocery store, there were no tulips. I decided to go with babys breath and keep it sweet and simple.

Total cost? $5.00!!

The perfect addition to my bedside table. Such an easy project but adds a beautiful, festive touch to our bedroom.

Hope your Valentine's plans are coming together!

proper storage for a girl's best friend.

If I ever find the perfect hutch, preferably with glass doors, I will make it mine and I will fill it with all of my most beautiful shoes.

Oh yes... someday I will.

simple and sweet.

This may be dangerous to say in the blogosphere but I'll say it anyways.
I'm not big on Valentine's Day.
With so many Valentine's posts already... I hope I don't lose any readers over that proclaimation.
Now, with that said, I do like to have a touch of Valentines Day in my house for the month of February.

I decided to use some leftover paper and ribbon from a previous DIY and make a cute little heart garland for our mantle. Turned out pretty cute no?

And I wouldn't be me without trying to use everything so I found a cute spot for the heart outlines. Our hutch in the living room was the perfect spot!

Have you decorated for Valentine's Day? I have one more little thing I want to do - hopefully I can post soon!
xoxo
