this must be a joke.

Um, Modcloth?

No ma'am. Why would you even suggest doing this to a woman?
And at $169.99?? That's beyond a joke. That's just down right insulting.

a year and counting...

It's finally here - my blogoversary! I've officially been blogging one year and have had an amazing time doing it. I started this blog as more of a hobby than anything else. I'm over joyed with how it has become so much more. I love this community that we've built together and can't imagine my days without checking each and every one of your blogs. So a big THANK YOU for sticking it out with me over the last year. Here's to another!
I thought today would be a good day to do a tag I recieved months ago and just haven't gotten around to it. So here's a little bit about me:

If I were a month, I’d be October.
If I were a day of the week, I’d be Sunday.
If I were a time of day, I’d be the moment I wake up.
If I were a planet, I’d be Earth.
If I were a sea animal, I'd be a sea turtle.
If I were a direction, I’d be North.
If I were a piece of furniture, I’d be a ridiculously comfortable bed.
If I were a liquid, I’d be Diet Coke.
If I were a gemstone, I’d be a sapphire, my mom's favorite.
If I were a tree, I’d be Palm tree.
If I were a tool, I’d be hammer. {to get some aggression out!}
If I were a flower, I’d be a tulip.
If I were a kind of weather, I’d be a summer thunderstorm.
If I were a musical instrument, I’d be a piano.
If I were a color, I’d be green.
If I were an emotion, I’d be joy.
If I were a fruit, I’d be a strawberry.
If I were an element, I’d be air.
If I were a car, I'd be something vintage.
If I were a food, I’d be anything Mexican!
If I were a place, I’d be a Tuscan sunflower field.
If I were a material, I’d be cotton.
.If I were a scent, I’d be Burberry.
If I were an animal, I'd be Gus. {of course}
If I were a facial expression, I’d be a blush.
If I were a song, I’d be "One Sweet World" by Dave Matthews Band.
If I were a pair of shoes, I’d be high high heels.

Happy Friday!

bananas and peanut butter

I got motivated last night and tried a new recipe that I've been meaning to try.
I love when new recipes end in success.
Banana Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting

{rows & rows of banana cupcakes}

{a bowl full of peanut butter frosting}

{our cupcakes in my pretty glass goodie stand}

{a bit unconventional but delicious just the same}

1 1/2 cups sugar
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
 1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/4 cups ripe bananas, mashed

1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Cream butter and sugar with a mixer until light and fluffy
3. Add eggs and vanilla, and mix until batter is smooth
4. Combine all dry ingredients and mix into batter in 3 parts, alternating with buttermilk. Reduce speed to love and mix for 2 more minutes.
5. Line cupcake pan with wrappers. Using a spatula, gently fold mashed bananas into batter. Scoop into cups 2/3 full
6. Bake for 25 minutes and let cool.
7. For frosting, combine 2 cups powdered sugar, 1 stick unsalted butter, and 1 tsp vanilla. Add 1 cup creamy peanut butter and 3 tbsp milk. Mix until spreadable. Makes 18-24.

*Hope you enjoy!*

who invited monday?

How is it that the weekend flies by but the weeks move so very slowly? Particularly between the hours of 8a and 5p? Someone please explain. :)
I did have a great weekend however. Guy and I went to Shutter Island on Friday night.
I had little interest in the movie but Guy really wanted to see it. I'm so glad we went. It's more of a thriller or a Hitchcock film than the scary movie the trailer makes it out to be. So if you are one of those that wasn't going to see it because you don't like scary movies - go! It really isn't scary. More suspenseful.
I also discovered the video for my new favorite song this weekend.
Timbaland f/t Justin Timberlake "Carry Out"

Such a good song and equally good video.
In my book, JT can do no wrong.
I also caught up on this season of Survivor. Are you watching? I haven't watched the last two seasons but I couldn't resist this season knowing some of my old favorites are back.

Love me some James, Colby, Rob, and Amanda.
Hope you all had great weekends! Let me know if you did something fun.

a mish mash.

Holla! It's Friday! Thank god. It's been a long week. I got back from a trip, went on another trip, got bombarded with work because I was on another trip, etc. It never ends. BUT.... in just eight hours... it will be the weekend.
Acouple of things I wanted to share on this lovely Friday:
1. Many of you asked for details on my video yesterday(thanks by the way for all the love! I'll definitely be creating more!) I used my Flip UltraHD and used their software to make the video. Both are super simple to use and I highly recommend the Flip.
2. Please tell me you all saw Shaun White win the gold Wednesday night? AMAZING. The kid is super human. And good heavens do I love his crazy red hair.
3. Speaking of hair, I'm in love with the side braids that have been all over the runways.
I wore my hair like this earlier this week and Guy told me I look liked I was from the 80's. Clearly he doesn't know fashion.

Wishing you all a very happy Friday and amazing weekend!

it's a sauce-off ya'll!

Guy is a great cook.
Guy's sister Melinda is a great cook.
While in Albany, we thought it would only be appropriate to have a....
The rules:
1. Use any ingredients available in the house.
2. No tasting each others sauce.
3. Smack talk the entire time.
You see, Guy & Melinda have very different cooking styles. Guy falls on the healthier side while Melinda... well... she loves butter. Lots of butter. Julia Child style. Her love of butter and Guy's clear avoidance is what spurned this 'sauce off' in the first place.
{Melinda's on the left, Guy on the right}
{Guy wants everyone to know his bowl prevented his from photographing as well as Melinda's. Ha!}

{Pride Personified}

{Melinda & her pasta}
In the end, there was no clear winner. The other siblings didn't want the wrath of the other sibling so they wouldn't give an opinion. The nieces tied in opinion between the two and I was smart enough not to give mine; I'm still trying to get in with this family people!
Do you have a clear cut 'chef' in the family??

friends, family and snow. OH MY!

Guy and I had a fantastic four day vacation in upstate New York. We spent the first two days with my college roommate and her husband and the second two with the majority of Guy's family. Couldn't have been more fun! Our time with friends was filled with thai food, Wii, bowling, & an amazing Italian dinner out.
{a bit off center but a nice lil group pic nonetheless}

{my bestie Sarah}

{dinner out in Sartoga Springs}

{Nate & Sarah}
The second half of the vacation was filled with lots of family, snow, winter activites, Rock Band, and Olympics. Serious fun people. Guy is one of five and each of his brothers and sister have kids. The nieces and nephews couldn't be cuter. They're all amazing kids and so much fun to hang out with!
{rocking our winter gear. all borrowed mind you. charlestonian's don't own winter gear}

{Sumer, Kayla,& Mya; three of Guy's adorable nieces}

{First time playing Rock Band & loving it}

{I was horrible. But had fun doing it.}
So there you have it. An amazing weekend. Being around such fun people made me totally forget that I was freezing the entire weekend. :)
More to come.... including my first Flip video!

your ears look lonely.

It's vacation time for Guy & I. We're heading to upstate New York to visit my college roommate and her husband for two days and then visiting his sister and her family for another two days.
It's going to be so much fun! I promise to have lots of pictures when I return. Most of them will probably have me looking like this:
I'm a baby about cold weather.
I figure I shouldn't leave my blog cold and lonely so I planned a giveaway!!!
That's right - one of you lucky readers has the chance to win these lovely earrings.

The picture doesn't do them justice. They're a beautiful peach/pink color. I found them a few months back with the intention to do a giveaway with them and just never got around to it. Until now.
Entering is simple:
1 entry if you're a follower
1 extra entry if you blog about this giveaway
Sorry international readers.... this is only open to my US readers. I'll have an international giveaway soon!
I'll use to pick a winner Monday evening, February 15th.
Good luck!

some randomness for your wednesday.

It feels like the right time to tell you some random things about me and my life. Nothing earth shattering but me none the less.
I have an addiction to using '!' when typing.

I constantly have to re-read what I'm typing/writing to make sure I haven't placed any rouge exclamation points in there. I will literally put one after each sentence. After I've completed my blog post or email - I'll take at least half the '!' away. On the flip side, if I'm feeling angry, frustrated, or something inbetween - I'll under use it. You know what I'm talking about. You read 'Thanks!' different than 'Thanks.'
I'm a great speller, except for the word comercial.
Or is it commerrcial. Wait, maybe commercial.
Okay, I just googled it. That last one is correct.
I have an asthmatic cat.
That's right. My sweet Gussie is a special needs cat. Here's a glimpse of what we go through one to two times per day. (not me & Gus in the video but you get the idea....)

It took him a few months to get used to it but now it's just a regular part of our day. It is hard to leave him and have my family and friends responsible for the inhaler. Luckily Gus trusts both Guy and my mom so I have some solid back up for when I'm out of town.
I have to have cheese everyday.

It's a full on addiction. I go through withdrawl without a substantial amount each day. I've never met a cheese I don't like. If there's a cheese plate appetizer on the menu - we're getting it. I go to Mexican restaurants just for the queso dip. I go through withdrawl on business trips if I don't get my fix. It can get ugly.
I blame growing up in Wisconsin for my addiction.
People and their animals wear cheeseheads for heavens sake. If that doesn't speak volumes, I don't know what does. {that picture was just for you Ms. Mayra!}

So there you have it; some random facts about me.
More to come another day!

i'll claw your eyes out for one.

Everyone has their thing they want. Want in a new home that is.
For me, it's a clawfoot tub.
All I want in my next home is a beautiful master bath with a big, gorgeous clawfoot tub.
I'd take any of these.....

{oh to have that view....}

{love the geometric shapes & gorgeous brown wallpaper}

{a pink tub?! sign me up!}

{I'm a sucker for the contrast with the checker print floor}

{and my favorite... clean, light, and airy}

What's a must have in your next home?

monday already?!

I'm definitely not ready for it to be Monday already. I had an amazingly relaxing weekend that went too fast always. Add that to a later than usual night last night due to the Super Bowl and you've got one tired Morgan on your hands. Acouple of things I wanted to share this morning however.....
Tyler Florence's Chicken Cordon Bleu
Have you had? No? Well get on it sister! It's amazing and one of our favorite dishes to make. Think about  perfectly cooked chicken, ham, and gruyere cheese all wrapped together. HEAVEN.
You can find the recipe here.

Dear John

I took my mom to see this Sunday and we both really liked it. The movie was filmed in Charleston so we had to go. It's always fun to see your town in movies. Remember The Notebook? Of course you do. Much of that was filmed here as well. Guess Nicholas Sparks loves the lowcountry. Annnyyywho... Dear John was really good. A tearjerker for sure & well worth seeing.

Amanda Seyfried
While we're on the topic..Amanda Seyfried. Yeah, she's gorgeous.

How was your weekend? Did you watch the Superbowl? What was your favorite commercial?

dianas and polas

I'm long overdue to post these but I thought better late than never. I blame the fact that I don't have a scanner so I have to ask my dad to scan my pictures. Good thing he loves me so much.
First up... December polaroids.
My dad must have done something where the outside white portion didn't scan? Who knows. Happy to have them in digital form none the less!
{seeing the tree makes me miss Christmas!}

{I almost forgot what Guy's face looks like without the beard}
{if he can get in it, on it, around it... he will}

{my favorite! he snuggles under the comforter and looks like a pancake}
Next up.... my Dianas.
Don't get excited. I took my first roll in the Dominican and it wasn't as successful as I had hoped. I debated even scanning them because I am so disappointed but a couple of them turned out decent. I've started my second roll and am hoping for better results!

{most of the pictures had this weird glare... maybe there was a light leak?}

{oh to be under a tiki hut, sipping a fruity drink....}

{I actually like this one. Too bad my finger is in the lower right corner!}

If any of you are Diana experts.... I welcome all tips & tricks!
Last but certainly not least....
Thank God It's Friday!!
