it's simply you

Ladies! I'm so excited to have another giveaway! This is extra special because my dear friend Collins has generously offered to host this giveaway and I KNOW you're going to love.

Collins makes beautiful handmade jewelry and one lucky reader will win her choice of any pair of earrings in Collins' Etsy store!
Here are two of my favorites... although there are so many lovelys to choose from.

{perfect for a date night or fun night out with your girlfriends}

{I have these and get so many compliments on them!}

So here are the details... you have a couple chances to win:
1. Visit Collins' Etsy shop & let me know what pair of earrings you'd love to own.
2. If you're a follower, leave a second comment.
3. If you post about this giveaway on your blog - leave another comment!
It's that easy. I'll use random.org to choose a winner Sunday evening.
Good luck! And thanks to the very talented Collins for treating us so well.

a girl can wish

I'm totally into the new season of 24.
The downside to watching is that it created a new obsession:
FRECKLES.
I want them.
The lead actress, Annie Wersching, has the cutest freckles. I comment to Guy about them every episode.

Isn't she adorable?
She isn't the only one who rocks some adorable freckles however...

{who knew Kate had freckles?}

{just beautiful}

{perfectly placed & beautiful}

{love this picture of LL. wish she still looked like this...}

Do you have freckles? Do you love or hate them? Can I have them?

spring inspiration

Ann Taylor Loft is really inspiring me to sift through my wardrobe and mix & match what I have to create new looks for spring. A lot of what they're showing are basics we all have; just remixed in new and interesting ways. Check out their website for more inspiration!

{I have a blue belt that mimics this pink one exactly. Haven't worn it like this though!}
{I think I have all of these pieces... just never worn together!}

{love how unexpected this coat is with the outfit}

{loving the light denim with blush pink}

{this looks suspiciously like a 90's tight roll but I'll go with it}

{subtle but sexy}

Happy Spring Shopping!

one week until....

I'm 29. Yikes.
Truthfully I don't mind that much. I love birthdays, I'm excited to be a year older and birthdays mean one central thing in my mind:
COOKIE CAKE.
I freaking love cookie cakes. I wish I could eat them everyday.
My parents have ruined me because they used to give me cookie cakes for any occasion....birthday,cross country race, graduation, music recital. You name the occasion. I got a cookie cake.

{excuse the extreme paleness. I lived in Wisconsin & didn't wear make up}

{the obligatory Morgan/Cookie Cake picture}

{I'm sure immediately after this picture I was face first in this cake}
I've asked Guy for one thing.  A cookie cake.
I haven't had one since I've lived in Charleston which is over 6 years.
I'm long overdue.

stacy london. fashion muse.

I love What Not to Wear. Do you watch? If not, you should.
I love the show but I love Stacy London's fashion sense even more.
Every piece of clothing the woman wears I want to own.
She's beautiful, fashionable and has a bad ass white streak in her hair. I've heard it's a birthmark.
Whatever it is... it works.

{could her hair be any more perfect?!}

{love these two}

{gorgeous}

{navy & marigold. genius}

{I'll take her hair, ring, & dress please}

In other news, Guy and I had a great weekend. We went to dinner & a comedy show Friday night, had my dad over for dinner Saturday night, and lay low & watched football last night. A pretty perfect January weekend if you ask me. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well!

we can't have all the virtues right?

I'm a work in progress.
I'm an extremely impatient person. It's something I hate about myself.
I wish I could snap my fingers & change.
Yesterday was an excerise in patience and I failed.
I had an up and back trip to Washington D.C. for work and felt worked by the end of the day. For no reason at all. All because I can't keep my impatience in check. For example....
- The plane didn't board when my ticket said it would. Not happy.
- The person in front of me in the Metro line paid for his Metro passes with change. $8 worth. It was painfully slow.
- My coworker planned our trip. We got in to DC at 9a. Our meeting wasn't until 1:30p. We sat at a Starbucks. For more than 4 hours. I don't have the patience for that.
- The woman in front of me at the security check point was more into talking on her phone than getting through the checkpoint. That's 5 minutes I'll never get back.
- The guy next to me on the plane? Yeah. He was a skin picker. I almost went apeshit on his ass. You KNOW how I feel about this.

So there was my Thursday. Nothing for the record books but I got some self awareness out of it so that's something? Anyone know any good books on patience?
Nevermind.. who am I kidding... I couldn't get through the thing.

Wishing you a very happy Friday and an even better weekend!
xoxo

word of warning for us all.

Did anyone see Oprah yesterday? Lame question but I'm asking for a serious reason. This particular episode was on texting while driving and for whatever reason... it really hit home.
If your honest with yourself... I'm sure you've done it before. I probably do it at least once or twice a week. And I check my email on blackberry even more often... even if I don't respond.

In watching the episode... I was trying to think of a text or email that was important enough to put myself or someone else at risk.
I couldn't think of one.
No where else in my life do I put others in danger... nor do I risk my own safety. Why do I do it when I drive?
So I'm pledging today to stop texting while driving.
Nothing is more important than my life or someone elses life.

{my apologies for the heavy post... i just thought it was important enough to put out there. a bit of food for thought}

i did good.

Okay ladies, kind of a lame post but I'm proud of my outfit today. I actually took time to put thought into my outfit and it turned out so cute. I got so many compliments and just felt good about myself all day. It's amazing how the way you dress can affect you like that.
I don't usually wear all black... I looooove color but this just fit for yesterday.

{it's a tulip skirt with pockets. Brilliance!}

{hard to tell in the picture but the tank was lace trimmed & the sweater was ruffled. it was a nice contrast of texture}

{texture + pattern = adorable}

{love my scalloped black pumps!}

Hope you're enjoying your Tuesday evening!
xoxo

a lovely monday off

I was one of the lucky ones that had yesterday off and I took full advantage. I woke up feeling run down from my crazy bachelorette weekend (which was so fun!) so Guy & I took it easy in the morning, went for an early lunch, and then saw The Lovely Bones.

You HAVE to see this movie.
Guy and I loved it. It's a beautifully well made & haunting movie.
I'd be interested in hearing what someone who has read the book thinks of the movie... let me know if you have read & seen this!
Since I wasn't feeling 100%.. Guy made me a delicious shrimp & sausage gumbo for dinner. How can you go wrong with okra, peppers, tomatos, sausage & shrimp?! You can't. That's right. :)

Sorry for the poor photo quality -I was in a rush and the heat from the dish was making the photos foggy!
Hope those of you that had off from work enjoyed it and for those that were at work - hope it went super fast!

wishing for sunshine

Oh JCrew.... I need a second job just to afford you... but oh how I love you.
Their 2010 swimwear is divine.
One of these beauties will be mine.

Happy Monday - here's to wishing for sunny weather!

worst marketing idea ever

Pepsi Throwback - made with real sugar.
Thanks Pepsi - that's all we Americans need... for our soda to be even worse for us.
Maybe next you lace it with some addictive substance or slip some animal fat in there for kicks?

So my question to you,dear friends,is:
Will you try Pepsi Throwback? Or steer clear of this passing fad?

a BIG thank you

Good heavens do I love this little blogging community. Such an ugly incident turned into an amazing show of support. I love each and everyone of you for standing up for me. And more than for me - for US. These blogs are our personal online journals and while we open them up to the World... there should be a level of respect between all bloggers, readers, & lurkers. Usually there is... yesterday there was not. From one person. And you guys came to my defense. And I love you for it.

Because Ms. 'Amy White' decided to leave ugliness on my blog yesterday, I've decided to offset her lack of karma with more karmic activity on my side. I'm going to go out of my way to make people's day today. Something as simple as a genuine compliment or a simple way to help people is easy for me to do and I figure why not?
Wishing you all an amazing weekend. I have Monday off so I'm doubly happy for the weekend to {almost} be here. I'm heading to Hilton Head Island for a bachelorette party so I'm sure I'll have some fun photos for next week!

a letter.

Dearest Amy White,
Hi, how are you? Thanks for your comment tonight. You have the distinguished honor of being my first 'hate' comment. Kudos. You kept it classy and told me how ugly I am and how cliquish my blog is. I hope commenting made you feel better, helps you sleep tonight, and overall helps you hold your head up high. And for the record... I never called Heidi Montag pathetic or ugly... I simply commented on the amount of plastic surgery she had undergone and how unfortunate it is. She was a beautiful woman. I did call Spencer Pratt a douchebag. You got me there. Let's just call a spade a spade.
Now get the hell off my blog.
All the best,
Morgan

the disaster that is heidi montag

....can you believe she did this to herself?! Many of you blogged about the plastic surgery she went under but I had NO idea it was this drastic. Clearly she had a mental block or her douche husband is making the decisions for her. Unbelieveable.

In thinking about it though - she's getting exactly what she wants. People talking. Being relevant.
Her 15 minutes of fame.
What a sad sad 15 minutes though....
