absolute perfection.

If I thought my hair would cooperate, this would absolutely be my hair on the day of my wedding.

Perfection in every way.

to be young, rich, and have places to go.

Guy and I have no plans for New Year Eve.... yet.
But if I did.... and had an endless amount of money... I would find a party to wear one of these beauties!

is it over already?!

I definitely have the post Christmas depression. I can't believe it's Monday already!
Guy and I had a fabulous Christmas with our families...we spent half the time with mine, half with his and even combined the families for Christmas night.
I didn't take too many pictures... was too busy stuffing my face full of Christmas cookies.

{Christmas morning with my parents}

{our stockings! my favorite!}

{and no Christmas would be complete without Gus in a box}

Hope you all had a great Christmas holiday!
Please tell me you aren't at work like I am.
And the post Christmas depression continues....

an open letter

An open letter to all computer virus creators & hackers-a-like*,

I am so over you. All of you. You're all either little dweebs sitting in your moms basements or losers sitting in Internet cafes in Brussells but you're all the same. You're attention starved, maturity stunted, moral lacking individuals with too much time on your hands. I wish we could hack your bank accounts and donate all your (i.e. our) money to charity.

*Within the last week two of my family
members have had their email and/or accounts
hacked.  Clearly, I'm annoyed. : )

we have a front runner!

Thank goodness for friends. Last night I got an email with links to yellow shoes and one of them has become the front runner for the wedding! If you don't know what I'm talking about, click here.

I immediately bought the little beauties just in case no other sole (get it, sole... like soul... I'm clever) took it's place.

I feel better knowing I have something for the wedding... I've been stressing finding the perfect yellow shoe. Reminder... it can't have a heel as I don't want to tower over my husband-to-be. Just thought I'd put that out there as I can imagine some of my new readers are wondering why the hell I'm wearing flats for my own wedding! I'm 5'11 people. Guy is 5'10. You do the math.

Keep your eyes open friends! I like options!

Say it with me....

Yellow Shoes!!
Size 8.5!!!
No to low heel!!!

weekend scenes.

Happy Monday loves! Hope it was a good one. Mine started out great and ended with a bust. The good comprised of an annual cookie exhange, dinner with Guy, & The Fighter (SO GOOD!!). The bad was a Sunday evening of kitchen disasters... that led to Guy and I bickering all night. Everything is good now but wasn't exactly how I wanted to end my weekend.
Here are some scenes from my weekend....

{cookies galore on Friday night}

{the entertainment at the cookie exchange; also known as Nelson}

{dinner out with Guy at Sermet's}

{the beast that is Gustavo... love that monster}

In random good news... I won this beauty on Ebay!

I consider it a little Christmas gift to myself.

Can't wait to catch up on your weekend! Can anyone believe Christmas is FIVE DAYS AWAY?!?!?

our first photo christmas card!

Another reason why I was so excited for our engagement photos was because I was going to be able to do our first photo Christmas card! I made it through Shutterfly and am so happy with the result!

And in related news, I was so excited when a friend let me know that my and Guy's engagement session was highlighted on The Wedding Row yesterday!

Hope ya'll are having a wonderful weekend!

Thursday, December 16, 2010 black bottom cupcakes

It's mid December and that means the annual cookie exchange with my girlfriends! We have it Friday night so I spent last night making my mom's miniature black bottom cupcakes. She got this recipe from a friend years ago and they've been a staple in our family ever since.

{Make sure you have a mini cupcake pan and line it with mini cupcake wrappers}

{Add your cocoa mixture first; 1/3 full}

{Finish each off with a teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture}

{Bake for 15 minutes and voila!}

{Delicious black bottom cupcakes!!}

Miniature Black Bottom Cupcakes

 {for the cream cheese mixture}
1 8 oz package of cream cheese
1 egg
1/3 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
12 ozs semi sweet chocolate chips
{for the cupcake mixture}
1 1/2 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
1/3 cup oil
1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 350
Combine cream cheese, egg, sugar and salt. Mix well. Blend in chocolate chips. Set aside.
Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Stir in water, oil, and vanilla.
Put paper liners in cupcake tin. Fill each 1/3 full with cocoa mixture.
Top with 1 teaspoon cream cheese mixture.
Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
Eat one to test!
So easy yet so absolutely tasty. Hope you try and enjoy!

in five months i'll be on aloha time

You know why?!?! Because Guy and I will be honeymooning in HAWAII!
Let's be honest... there was never any other choice... we knew from the moment we got engaged that we wanted to honeymoon in Hawaii. I've been and loved.... Guy has never been and wanted too. It's going to be perfect!

We start our 10 day trip in Maui at the Four Seasons.
We don't plan to leave the resort. At all.
I'm sure Maui is beautiful but we'll only be seeing the views from the Four Seasons... because when you pay Four Seasons prices - you ain't leaving.

From Maui, we'll be flying to Kauai to stay at the Grand Hyatt.
I love how rustic yet luxorious this hotel appears to be and the reviews online are great. We're going to rent a car so we can explore Kauai.

We're also spending our first and last days in Honolulu due to our flight plan. I've been before and loved but am glad we're spending the majority of our time in Maui and Kauai.
So what about you? Where did you spend your honeymoon? Have you been to Hawaii? Any recommendations?

tis the season...

...for celebrity divorces.
Kind of sad... yet somewhat predictable.

Dunzo Number One:
Scarlett & Ryan

I'm actually sad about this one but happy for my girl Kristen!

Dunzo Number 2:
Zach & Vanessa

So not an actual divorce but to be fair... they lasted longer than most celebrity marriages.

Dunzo Number 3:
Michael & Jennifer

This was hurts my heart. Bad. I love these two.

What is it about this time of the year? Divorcing/seperating before the holiday?
Anyone else distraught about Michael and Jennifer?

birds of a feather.

I've always loved anything with a feather motif. Whenever I have an extra moment... I search high and low for new feather items to add to my wish list. I found some doozies in my recent search. Hope you enjoy!

Tray Chic Serving Dish ~ $18

What do you think? Can any of the above make your holiday wish list?

what do tigers dream of when they take their little tiger snooze?

Folks. Seriously. How am I 29 and just NOW experiencing Vegas?!
It. Was. Amazing.
And I have to admit... I wasn't the best blogger while there... I didn't take a lot of photos. With the photos I do have, however, I thought I would break this post into the good and the bad. Here we go....

Vegas - 'The Good'

- Going in December proved to be a wonderful time of the year. Not as crowded as (I hear) it usually is and it was decorated to the hilt with Christmas decor!!!

- Guy and I won big our first day. We found this little 5 cent slot machine that continued to shell out the cash. First $56, then $158, then $87, etc etc.

{our magical little machine.... a hidden gem for sure!}

- The food. Ohhhhh the food. So many amazing options! We ate like kings the entire weekend!

{our Friday night dinner spot in The Bellagio}

- The cowboys! I've never seen so many 10 gallon hats (is that what you call them??) And these aren't your Texas cowboys.... they're your Montana/Wyoming/Utah cowboys... a breed I've never seen!

- THE SHOPPING. As plentiful and high end as everyone says. I contained myself....since going to Vegas was our Christmas in of itself but I had to get a few things.

{ Jessica Simpson Kytia Over the Knee Boots. LOVE}

{Anthro ikat bowls... perfect to spice up my white plates for a dinner party!}

Vegas - 'The Bad'

- Remember how I said we were winning big? Didn't last long. We were up a few hundred the first day.... lost it all the second day. You know how everyone says 'bet on black?' Yeah, notsomuch.

 - The smoke. Granted, it could have been WAY worse and I thank the amount of oxygen they pump into those casinos but it still was funky and not in a good way.

- No Cirque shows! Apparently we arrived when most of the shows are on their holiday break before the Christmas and New Years weeks. BOO.

So there you have it... a ridiculously fun weekend with my favorite person. I will most certainly be back to Vegas in the near future. Want to come????
