are you a bargain shopper?

I pose a question to you today...
Are you a bargain shopper? Or are you someone that can easily and without heartache purchase items full price?
I am most certainly the former... my mom instilled in me from a young age to look for a good deal. For the most part this serves me well... I've got a healthy savings account and don't have credit card debt. On the other hand... I don't quite have the closet my little heart desires.

Take this dress for example:
Remember my mom telling me about this lovely? Well I've been coveting it ever since... and thought I would wait until it went on sale before I bought it. The pitfall of that plan was that my size is already gone.

So what say you? Do you find something, love it, and go for it? Or do you wait it out on the chance that you can get it at a more reasonable price??
Oh, and I realize I've been living under a rock but I just discovered Gilt and have bought two things already.... this may be a dangerous relationship.
xoxo

I'm definitely more of a bargin shopper. I hate spending more than a certain amount on any one article of clothing or shoes regardless of how much I may want it. I convince myself I can find something similar for cheaper and usually do!

Yes, I would say I am a "bargain shopper." After working so many retail jobs and getting to know the industry, I don't believe in paying full price for something unless I need it for an event.

I guess I'm a little bit of both, but not so great at the bargain part. If I like it, I buy it. Wait, if I love it, I buy it. And I don't enjoy hunting sales racks, I usually just skip them. I wish that weren't the case...

I agree with Chassity. I'm a combo. If I ABSOLUTELY love something and we have the money, I might not wait. However, I always leave before buying something. For example, I'll go to J. Crew, try on, find what I love, and then go home. I'll talk to the hubby and make sure I really want it, and then go back the next day with a plan. It works better than impulse buying, but it's usually not sold out after one day.

Yes and no! I love a good bargain but it happens that I also splash out on something really nice and full price :)

If I really want something and can justify the price versus the use I'll get out of it and the quality, I'll buy it. Something like my wool dress coat, which I love, fits perfectly and is exactly what I wanted, I'll shell out for. I tend to shop bargain for trendier items I know won't last.

I have to really really really love something to pay full price. :) hee hee. I love sales!! They are the way to go.. (then again, I did get most of my Jeffrey Campbell shoes at full price.. I REALLY love JC's!)

That dress is so pretty.. bummer you couldn't get it.

And I love Gilt too. Definitely great deals.

xx Love & Aloha

aww, that's sad about the dress. can you find it on eBay? or perhaps in a store near you? i feel like that dress was meant for you based on your original post about it!
and gilt is awesome, although i haven't splurged there yet. (i also like their partner site, jetsetter.com)

Love Gilt! And hmmm I say if it's something you LOVE you'll enjoy it and it'll be worth it:-) Who doesn't love a good deal now and then though?

PS cute dress!

I'm definitely a bargain shopper. I think paying over $10 for most things are outrageous. I will spend a lot on shoes though. Shopping at thrift stores or any clearance rack is my thing.

It works for me & I have a lot of cute clothes. I do miss out on some great items but I would be pissed if I spent a crazy amount.
