planes, trains, and automobiles - volume I

We had the trip of a lifetime in Italy. Our first stop was Florence.
I don't know that there are words to describe Florence. It's an old city with a young vibe. You can walk from one end of the city to the other (the downtown portion) in 30 minutes but you could never see everything you wanted to see. There are just too many trattorias, cafes, shops, and people to see everything. I now understand why everyone who has been to Florence says they could live there. I definitely could.
{The Duomo in Florence. One of the most amazing sights I've ever seen!}

{The view from Hotel Porta Faenza. Would definitely recommend!}
{Thanks to Maggie and John for the excellent recommendation!}

{Main mode of transportation #1}

{Main mode of transportation #2}

{The Arno River... provides a beautiful walk through Florence}

{Yup. A tourist with a book. Oh well!}

{The Boboli Gardens}

{The Boboli Gardens were beautiful but the main reason we went was to see this breathtaking view of Florence. We couldn't get enough}

{My handsome man!}

There are literally hundreds of more photos which will be posted to Facebook soon. This is just a taste of Florence.
Acouple of things I learned from the women of Florence:

1. It's a little bit like New York City in that most of the women wear blacks and neutrals.

2. With that said, they all wear fabulous pashminas and scarves. Definitely inspiring.

3. Florence women don't primp over their hair like American women. They wear their hair in messy buns & braids. No straightened or curled hair for most of them. I may be giving my hair dryer up for good!

 Next up on our tour of Italy - the Castello de Verazzano wine tour in Tuscany!
xoxo

I love your pics.... how long was the flight over there?? I need to find a way to stop freaking out about flying or I will never get to go anywhere!!
How was the food?? I can't imagine living in the country that is home to my fave cuisine. I think I would weigh 500 pounds if I lived in Italy.
