morgan's book corner.

It's that time again friends..... let's swap book recommendations!
Lately I've read:
Dorethea Benton Frank's Return to Sullivan's Island
Loved it. To be fair, DBF can do no wrong in my book however. She always writes about the lowcountry (i.e. Charleston for those of you not in the know) and weaves an amazing tale that makes you that much more happy that you live here. This book is the perfect mix of lowcountry haunts, history, and just a damn good story.
Pat Conroy's South of Broad
Yeah, didn't realize until this moment that I've read two books set in Charleston back to back. Oops. : ) I'm actually not finished with this book yet but I'm loving it and will be sad to have it end. Most of you know Pat Conroy from Prince of Tides but all of his books are fantastic.
Next Up:
Jen Lancaster's My Fair Lazy

I can't wait to read this book! Jen's books are laugh out loud funny and I know this one will live up to all my expectations. Have any of you read it yet? What did you think? And if you haven't read any of Jen's books - go now and buy them!

Your turn  - what book are you reading or recently read that I shouldn't miss?!? I need a book in the wings after My Fair Lazy.
Oh, and I can't forget to wish you a fabulous weekend! Hope everyone has something fun planned for their weekend.
xoxo

I'm reading
Fern Michael's Return To Sender.

It's a chick book, but it's really good.

I started Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner on our flight to Paris, and I had to make myself put it down and get some sleep. It's the sequel to Good in Bed which left me wondering what happend next! So now I'm finding out!

I read South of Broad earlier this year and loved it. So dark, but so, so good! I'm currently reading Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver, and it's a page-turner, too!

I am a huge nonfiction/autobiography reader (as well as hopeless romantic novels) and one of my all time favorites is "Seductive Poison" about a cult in the 70s that led to the Jonestown suicides. Fascinating!

I know Frank's daughter, haha. Weird. Thanks for the recommendations! I've recently read Water for Elephants, Speak, and I'm currently reading a biography on Winston Churchill, which is fascinating. xo

I have Jen Lancaster on my list to read (all of her books actually); I follow her blog, and just from reading that, I know I'm going to love her books! Perfect beach reading.

I just finished reading "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. It was a good story -- a short read. You'll probably like it because it's set in South Carolina!

And, I just started reading Dan Brown's latest, "The Lost Symbol." I started it the other night not sure if I really had the energy to, and as soon as I read the first paragraph, I remembered why I like Dan Brown so much. I could sit up and read his books all night; there is something about the way he writes that keeps me wanting more and more -- so hard to put down! I'd recommend reading "Angels and Demons" and "The Davinci Code" (in that order) if you haven't already, then reading this one.
