I knew planning a wedding would be stressful. It's stressful for anyone I'm sure but for someone like me, who has zero patience, it might be the death of me. I'm one of those people that likes to take care of things immediately. I hate having emails waiting unanswered in my inbox. If someone asks me to do something, I do it straight away. In college, I was that student that wrote the 10 page paper right away instead of waiting the month they gave you to write it. It's just me. Neurotic me.
I usually embrace neurotic me. I do not embrace neurotic me when it comes to wedding planning. The thought of tasks hanging over my hand for the next nine months kills my spirit a little bit. Guy and I have just begun and my heart feels like it's going to leap out of my chest.
Please tell me I'm not the only one like this?!? Were any of you like this while planning a wedding?
Any advice out there? Even if you haven't/didn't plan a wedding... I'll take any pearls of wisdom I can get!

In frivolous news....anyone watching The Bachelorette? I'm liking it.. but not loving it this season.
My pick. Roberto.
And not just because he's from Charleston.

I didn't watch last night so if he got kicked off, don't tell me!
Who are you rooting for?

you've done it again Anthro.

Anthropologie has some amazing 'fresh cuts' in their Sale section. I thought I'd share in case any of you didn't shop all weekend like I did. If I hadn't, however, I'd be all over this.
{love the blouse, don't love the lack of color}

{love everything about this dress}

{if they had my size, I would have bought. This picture doesn't do it justice, click the link}

{perfectly pretty}

I don't have an Anthropologie in Charleston but there is one two hours away. I'm trying to convince Guy to take me there during the 4th of July weekend. Make a little day trip of it. I'm slowly breaking him down. Stay tuned!
Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend! Mine was filled with beach, yummy food, and movies. (Toy Story 3 was AMAZING!)

i'm going to change the a in my name to an at symbol.

I cannot get away from Ke$ha lately.
It's like she following me.
Her music is all over the radio, she's on the latest episode of the Hills, she's being interviewed by late night TV hosts.
Please.... GO AWAY.
I don't believe she's as 'fierce' as she pretends to be.
She's kind of a wannabe Gagaloo.... and there is never going to be another GaGa.

{she looks remotely decent in this picture... }

{channeling LaLohan's drunk walk}

Are you a fan? Is she following you too or am I the only lucky one?!?

need your help!

Friends, need your advice. I've been thinking about changing my blog name for a while now but am not sure if I should do it. When I started blogging over a year ago - I threw my blog up without really thinking. I chose 'Let Me Help You Help Me' because I started the blog to put all my random and useless knowledge out there for others to consume. It was never as personal as I had wished but now I'm wondering if it's too late to change it.
Here are the options:

1. Leave it as is: Let Me Help You Help Me

2. Shorten it: Help You Help Me (this would match the URL)

3. Change it completely: Oh Captain, My Captain

Number 3 is more personal because my close friends from college called me Captain and it has stuck with me ever since. (You probably guessed but yes, it originated because of Captain Morgan Rum) It's also an ode to my favorite movie Dead Poet's Society.

So what do you think? Too late to change? Stick with the 'brand' I've built? Or make it more personal and move forward from there.
Leave a comment and let me know!

i gained five pounds this weekend.

This is why.

Martini's at Cypress
Steak dinner at Hall's Chophouse

Brunch at Mosaic

And you know what, totally worth it.

a thank you.

Turns out not where but who you're with that really matters
See you and me have a better time than most can dream
Have it better than the best...
- DMB 'Best of What's Around'

To my two favorite people.... thank you for always being there.

it's official....I have the best fiance in the world!

Please allow me to gush, I promise I won't do it much more, but I'm only on day four of being engaged and am still on cloud nine. Not only did I have a perfect engagement, but Guy flew in my best friend from college the next day! Talk about amazing right?!
{Guy, me, and my sweet Sarah!}
So I've had an amazing weekend with these two but what was even better was all of my friends getting together Friday night for an impromptu engagement party. Thank you Margaret & Erik for hosting!
{Our hosts with the most}
{my girls!}
So after the champagne and wine had been flowing for a few hours we decided to turn the party into a dance party. (This is a regular occurance for us)
{the night's blend was mostly 80's & 90's music}
{I have no clue but I love it.}
Are you watching the World Cup? If so, you know what getting 'yellow carded' means. Erik decided to yellow card throughout the night. I recieved mine for spilling wine on Leslie's head. Consider it my scarlet letter....
{party foul!!}
All in all it was an amazing night and Guy & I felt so loved. Thank you to all my sweet Charleston friends who showed up to support us!
We couldn't be happier!!!

big news from charleston!!

I couldn't be more happy..... why you ask? Because...
Guy and I are ENGAGED!!!!!!

Whether you want it or not, you're getting the story. Here we go...
Yesterday I was getting in my car for work and I noticed a note on my dashboard. Guy had left a note telling me to meet him at Smythe Park at 7p. I thought it was really sweet but didn't think more of it because he does sweet things for me often. Plus, he had been totally normal that morning and day.
So the day continues on as normal and I leave with Margo for our volunteer event from 5-7p. That went well and we headed back to Daniel Island so I could meet Guy at the park.
When I got to the park I saw he was set up for a picnic and waiting for me. I was immediately happy to be with someone who would go through the trouble to do this on a random Wednesday night... but had no clue what was about to happen.

{me walking to meet Guy}
Guy was smart enough to ask our dear friend Margaret to take pictures. I'm so glad he did and especially thankful that Margaret & Erik were willing to give up their summer evening to support us.

{G&I... at what I thought was just a picnic in the park}

We ate cheese and bread, drank wine, and just chat about random events from our day. Guy was checking his phone a lot but I thought he was reading work emails and didn't think too much about it. What I didn't know was he was waiting until 7:30p so Marg could snap some photos.

{Guy proposing}

I got distracted by a plane in the sky and when I turned around Guy was on his knee proposing. I know it's hard to see in the photo but we're both on our knees, I'm crying, and he's saying really sweet things that I can't remember! I remember some, but not all. I was so happy & surprised!

{post engagement, when Guy told me Marg & Erik were in the park taking pictures!}

{I've never been happier than in this moment}

Marg & Erik brought us beautiful antique champagne glasses and we popped a bottle of bubbly and celebrated our engagement!!

Friends, I couldn't be happier. My cheeks hurt from smiling since 7:30p last night. I've never smiled or laughed this much in my life. I feel blessed that Guy chose me to spend the rest of his life with.

{don't you wish you could have a head's up on an engagement so you could do something with your hair, put a little make up on, and be picture ready? Ha!}
I can't do an engagement post without a picture of the ring! Please excuse my nails.... I've never wished I had nicer nails more. :)
{my man did good!}

So there it is! I'm so happy and can't stop smiling. Thanks for reading and celebrating with me!

a perfect summer evening.

Angel food cake, whipped cream, and fresh berries.

Beautiful flowers from Guy don't hurt either.

What's your perfect summer evening?

weekend part deux

As mentioned in yesterday's post, we were on Seabrook and Kiawah Islands for the weekend for a wedding. Our good friends Brooks & Katherine were married at the beautiful Cassique Golf Course on Kiawah Island. I wasn't on top of my game and didn't get pictures of my own of the setting so I have to steal some from the Internet.
{they were married on the back lawn}
{my favorite place; also where they held the cocktail hour}
It was H-O-T but they were married in the shade which was perfect and had an amazing air conditioned tent for their reception. Everything was really top notch.
{me, Laura, and Courtney during the cocktail hour}
{My Guy & I}
{the beautiful reception}

The best part - the bride and groom have never looked happier.
We had a fantastic time and are so happy for Brooks & Katherine.

One summer wedding down, two to go!
Happy Tuesday!

island time.

This weekend we were living on island time... this means time doesn't matter, you always have a drink in you hand, and you don't have a care in the world.
We were lucky enough to go with two other couples to Seabrook Island for the weekend. Two of our friends were getting married on Saturday (more on that in another post) so we decided to make a weekend of it. Lucky for us, Guy's brother & sister in law have an amazing house on Seabrook and let us have it for the weekend. Life is good.
{our home away from home for the weekend}
{our group, minus Laura who showed up right after this photo}
{post beach & pool, and prior to seafood feast!}
{the view from Red's, Seabrook's local bar.}
After our day at the beach (literally swimming with the dolphins!) we went home and the boys hit the golf course.
{the men living the dream...}
After some dusk golfing, we made a seafood feast of swordfish, grouper, mahi, snapper, and crab cakes.
I'm still full.
Post dinner we had a little dance party... mostly spurned on from the day of margaritas, Coronas, and wine. I promised I would only embarass myself on this blog so I've only put my moves up.
This went on for hours.
{pure happiness}
I can't finish this post without posting my picture of Worth, late night, jumping his own leg. God only knows why we were doing this but I got a great action shot.
Next up, a few pictures from the beautiful wedding on Kiawah Island!
Hope you all had a restful weekend.
