morgan's book corner.

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know I love reading. I've read a couple great books lately that I thought I would share with you lovely readers and hopefully get a few recommendations from you as well!
The Lovely Bones
Great book! I saw the movie, liked it (which I know many of you didn't because you had read the book first) and knew I had to read the book. After reading, I can totally understand why many thought the movie didn't hold a candle to the book. The book is a fabulously written story and was one of those books I couldn't put down.

The Last Song
After The Lovely Bones, I needed something I bit lighter. My mom had read The Last Song and said it was an easy but good read so I took her up on the recommendation. I'm so happy I did. Nicholas Sparks certainly isn't one of my favorite authors but the man sure can weave a story. I really latched unto the story line and read this in a matter of a few days.
Funny thing I learned.... Nicholas Sparks wrote this story with Miley Cyrus in mind for the movie. Miley actually choose the main character's name, Ronnie. Originally I was against the movie because she was in it but since learning this - I think I may see it. That said, nothing will ever be The Notebook!

What have you been reading? Would you recommend any??

The Nora Roberts Bride Quartet is good. I am waiting on the 3rd one to come out either in late April early May. But the first two were really good. =)

Noooooo! I refuse to read and/or watch the love song. Stupid miley...and now stupid nicholas sparks. Lol.

I read lovely bones a long, long time ago and loved it! The movie was alright but of course i preferred the book. Right now i'm reading chelsea chelsea bang bang. Anything written by chelsea is worth the read.

The best novels I've read recently are:

The Time Traveler's Wife (don't let the movie throw you off).

Like Water for Elephants. Its about life, aging, and the circus. Doesn't sound as good as it is. I laughed and cried.

Sarah's Key. A story about a woman investigating a tragedy of the holocause in a small town in France.

Double Bind. It was the first book in a long time that I didn't predict the ending of.

I'm so glad you posted about these books! I always find myself in the book store trying to figure out which book to take home with me and I can't ever make up my mind. So, I go home empty handed. I want to see both movies. Maybe then, I'll read the books.

I read The Lovely Bones a few years ago, and had nightmares afterwards for 6 months. It still comes back to haunt me when I'm walking my dogs near the deep woods by my house at night. It's an amazing book, masterfully written, but too harsh in the reality department for me. I've been reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon - it's historical fiction, time travel fantasy, and romance wrapped into one. Hard to beat if you're a reality-escapist like me.

I downloaded The Lovely Bones from Audible.com and listened to the author read the story to me and it was GREAT!

I am also a total fiction lover but the book I am suggesting is a little of the path of the rest posted, but i liked it.
Its called "Women, Work & the Art of Savoir Faire" the women who wrote it is responsible for taking my personal fav champagne Veuve Cliquot to the top of the luxury market in america. I like this book b/c its well written and it talks very sensibly about being a women in the work place and how to enjoy your work like and your personal life and balence. I'm only 1/2 through and taken some good lessons away...

I've been reading The Time Traveler's Wife, which I know is old news, but I ordered it and then forgot about it and got it in the mail two years later. So I'm reading it finally. So far it's pretty great.

I read the Lovely Bones a few years ago and my mind is a bit foggy here but I think I found it okay. It was slow for awhile, got into it more near the end. I'd love to see the movie though.

As for the Last Song, I haven't read or seen the movie, but I'd love to do both. I like that it was based on Miley. I like her. I heard that she's great in the movie. I can't wait to see it.

Ahhhhhhhh, The Notebook. Nothing ever will be The Notebook. I loved the book but Rachel and Ryan just brought something extra to it for the movie. May I suggest Emma by Jane Austen. I've read it a million times. And the Gwyneth Paltrow movie version is pretty darn good too!
