a lovely monday off

I was one of the lucky ones that had yesterday off and I took full advantage. I woke up feeling run down from my crazy bachelorette weekend (which was so fun!) so Guy & I took it easy in the morning, went for an early lunch, and then saw The Lovely Bones.

You HAVE to see this movie.
Guy and I loved it. It's a beautifully well made & haunting movie.
I'd be interested in hearing what someone who has read the book thinks of the movie... let me know if you have read & seen this!
Since I wasn't feeling 100%.. Guy made me a delicious shrimp & sausage gumbo for dinner. How can you go wrong with okra, peppers, tomatos, sausage & shrimp?! You can't. That's right. :)

Sorry for the poor photo quality -I was in a rush and the heat from the dish was making the photos foggy!
Hope those of you that had off from work enjoyed it and for those that were at work - hope it went super fast!

Minus the okra and it's perfect! But, then again, I guess that sort of defeats the purpose of gumbo a little bit, huh?

I haven't seen the movie yet but my friend LOVED the book so I am interested in reading it then checking out the movie - You made a compelling case for it!

Sorry you didn't feel too great - That gumbo looks AMAZING! I hope it helped. If not the food, I am sure your husband's kindness did!

I am intrigued by that movie... but I know my limits and I cannot do scary movies. I will not sleep for a year. Is it scary?? Hmmmm... I hope not. Tell me it's not really scary. Then I will go see it.

I saw lovely bones too! I thought it was okay. I read the book and loved it. The movie did a good job but i think the heaven parts were a little acid trippy. And by the end of the movie, i couldn't wait for susie salmon to stop talking. Her voice was annoying. But i did enjoy it.

I saw this review of the movie and have since decided that I have little to no interest in seeing it. That's what Law & Order: SVU is for, right?

That shrimp dish looks heavenly! My sister read The Lovely Bones and said it was amazing. I can't bring myself to do it. Ever since I had my lil' dude I can't stomach violence against kiddos. : ( p.s. I think your nasty hater was Spencer Pratt himself. Just sayin'.

omg!! totally saw the movie too! I am going to read the book now too! My fabulous friend actually got it for me not too long ago and I'm itching to begin it! I thought the movie was great, but totally agree with Mayra the heaven parts were a bit off for me!

I'm so glad to hear that review! I've heard poor reviews (from "the experts," who's opinions I rarely agree with), but it looks SO good! SO thanks for sharing. Hope you're feeling better!

Sounds like a delicious, and needed, day off! Glad you enjoyed! I chilled in the house with my dog, slept in late, catching up on blogs, folding laundry, washing dishes and working out. It was cold and rainy, and I really didn't feel like going out, so I didn't!

I loved the book and was a little disappointed with the movie. Don't get me wrong I thought the movie was good but definitely no where near as good as the book.

The movie excluded a lot of good parts from the book. (Ex: The book focused on the entire family instead of just Susie Salmon.)

I love love loved the book and think if I watched the movie for a second time...I would probably enjoy it a lot more because I would know what to expect.

I think I'm turning out to be one of those people who should watch the movie THEN read the book.
