i didn't just want it... i thought i needed it

When you were little, didn't it seem like you were going to DIE if you didn't get what you want? How everything little thing could be made the biggest thing without you even trying? I was talking about this with my girlfriends the other day and we were laughing at the things we thought we needed... but ended up never getting and were GLAD for it.

The first thing I thought of was a Build a Bear. It came out just when I was on the verge of being too old for it but that didn't stop me from begging my mom for it. She never caved and I never got the experience of paying for an overpriced stuffed animal.

Next up - perhaps the World's ugliest coat... yet I wanted it. BAD. I give you......

A Packer Starter jacket. Every cool kid in middle school had a Starter jacket. I wasn't even that into football but I wanted that jacket. You were cool if you had one. I, on the other hand, rocked a peacoat. I thank my parents now for never giving in to that hideous trend.
Finally - GLAMOUR SHOTS.

Oh maaaannnnnn did I want one of these. They had it in our mall and looked so, well, glamourous when you're 12 or 13. What little girl doesn't want to dress up, have their hair and make up done, and take fun pictures. My parents, you guessed it, did not let me get Glamour shots. I will forever thank them for this.

What did you want as a kid but didn't get? And are you as thankful as I am for not getting it??

Ha ha ha....

I never had a build a bear....

I did how ever have a starter jacket (patriots) and I still have it... I like bringing it out when people think I jumped on the "Brady bandwagon" which clearly wasn't the case.. truth is we had a football pool... and being about 12 or 13 I made boocoo bucks from the Patriots.. which is why they are now "My Team".

Glamour Shots... ehh... my friend from highschool was OBSSESED with getting her pictures done from there... she went like twice a year...actually I think she had her senior portraits done there too... REAL CLASSY!

~k~ i'm done blogging on your post. =)

Oh, I DEFINITELY rocked the Starter jacket. It's so weird that you mention that because my hubs and I were just talking about them like two nights ago. I wasn't even into football for heaven's sake. I just picked Miami because they had the prettiest colors and I wanted a big dolphin on the back of my coat. Lol!

Bwah ha ha ha ha ha! Glamour shots! I wanted them too! And the starter jacket was required. I never had one though. What about Eastlands? They were huge back in my day, but I only got the bo-bo brand. :(

I have sadly had all three of these things- I actually got a build-a-bear for my 20th birthday (Sputnik the Monkey... still have him), I had a Braves Starter coat in middle school, and I did do Glamour Shots once (as a total joke, but yeah, I did it).
When I was little, I seriously wanted a Wheel of Fortune board game. My parents never got it for me so I started to pray for it. I told God to just leave it in the hall closet, and I woke up every morning, running to the closet... but yeah, it was never there.

I wanted Glamour Shots too but I never got mine either :o( My sister, on the other hand, did thanks to her boyfriend. I was so jealous, I guess I still am in a way. Great post. Love your blog!

Hahaha... I DID have Glamour Shots when I was little. Boy do those pictures crack me up now! The best was going to Old Country Buffet after the photo shoot will all the caked on makeup still on. Yeah, I was classy.

I can't think of anything specific that I really wanted. I'm just glad that my parents held back as much as they did with all the crappy toys I just knew I needed so bad and wouldn't have cared about at all now.

HA! This post cracks me up. I never had any of the above; but REALLY wanted Glamour Shots! My HS friend had them done and I was so jealous her mom let her. BUT....on the other hand MY MOM, had Glamour Shots taken for her portfolio picture. HA!! I still laugh at the pictures.

glamour shots have got to be the most ridiculous things! i wanted them bad too! who wouldn't want to be wrapped in an american flag with six pounds of make up on as a middle schooler?

Omigawd!!! How I desperately NEEDED a University of Kansas Starter jacket in 7th grade, my parents just did NOT understand. Luckily, I got it for an early Christmas present that year. When I was younger, my life too depended on getting an American Girl Molly Doll. I'm still alive now, so obvs I got it as a present then too :-) Love this topic, made me laugh!

Morgan- you are hilarious. Seriously, tears from laughing so hard. I NEVER pictured you wanting a Packer starter jacket, EVER!! =)
Do you remember the booths where you could get your picture taken and have different hairstyles put onto your head? I begged and begged and begged. Finally got it done for my birthday- and it was the freakiest thing ever. Not cute, and it didn't help my dorky hairstyle either...
