a favorite moment.

So rarely do we have an airport story that ends in success so I thought I would share one....

Last year I went on a company trip to Cabo (how lucky was I!) and we were traveling back to Charleston through Atlanta after a lovely week in Mexico.

Anyone who knows what it's like traveling through Atlanta knows the pain we were all expecting - rarely do you make your flight because the connections are so tight and the staff seemingly get a kick out of slamming the door in your face.

Our flight out of Cabo was of course running late, which means we got into Atlanta with 20 minutes to run from the International terminal to the opposite end of airport. We were a group of over 50 - people of all ages and sizes and decided to let the most in shape run ahead and try to get them to hold our plane.

"I'm sorry, you're too late." the gate attendant told us.

We were devastated. And mad. The plane was still at our gate. Hadn't pulled out. Just. Sitting. There. The plane must have had 5 people on it, no lie. Because the other 50 people heading to Charleston were behind us.... huffing and puffing through the Charleston airport to make it to this flight.

We decided to take things into our own hands. Like any self respected adults - we started banging on the airport windows, holding signs - doing anything to get the pilots attention.

The airport staffer told us we were wasting our time. She had closed out the flight.

But then a miracle happened.

With a smile on his face, the pilot turned off the plane, opened the door, and ordered the terminal connector back out.

This is what happened aftewards. (yeah, that's me, standing on the chairs...)
PRICELESS.

Ha, I love this! I am VERY familiar with ATL's airport & you're right, you were absolutely part of a miracle...

You should have purchased a lottery ticket, just to keep your luck going :-)
