loving this look

I first saw a similar shot in my People magazine but just found this surfing the web. I think Taylor Swift looks so beautiful here. I love everything about it... the headband, red lips, red dress, golden curls and amazing black heels that aren't pictured here. Perfection. The styling actually reminds me of a shop that Joanna of A Cup of Jo fame highlighted, Old Soul, New Heart. Isn't the girl below perfection? Not to mention I love everything this mother/daughter team makes!

kudos target shoe buyers.

Holy Cats. I just hit the motherload at Target. Their shoe buyers are definitely on point. I found the following three beauties for (obviously) bargain prices. Perfect for one season of use and no guilt if they don't last!

a beautiful day to turn one!

Guy and I have had a busy weekend already... last night we had date night and hit up a local gastropub. The atmosphere was great, the food was good, but nothing compared to the Wisconsin cheese plate. DE-licious. I HIGHLY recommend dipping your cheddar in carmel. Sounds weird, I get it, but it is amazing. Trust me. The big news around here, however, is today is Guy's niece Kate's first birthday! We headed to Seabrook Island for her birthday party and had a wonderful time. She was a perfect angel opening her gifts, daintly eating her cake, and managing through the whole party without getting too overwhelmed or tired. A success indeed!

Hope you enjoy your Sunday! xo

the premium meme award

My sassy Kristen over at K:Law Inspired tagged me with a little award and fun task! No clue what the Premium Meme Award means or stands for but hell - I'll take it! To accept, I have to give ya'll 7 tidbits of information about me that you may not know. Here we go!

1. I’m very impatient. It’s my number one area for improvement. If you have suggestions, feel free to comment. :)
2. I secretly wish I had the cajones to wear red lipstick every day.
3. I need one Diet Coke per day to function. No exceptions. And no, Diet Pepsi is not a substitute.
4. I love speaking in public.
5. I’m a TV Junkie…which you probably knew by the number of television posts on my blog…
6. I’m a MASTER multitasker. I’m constantly doing 5 things at once. Take this moment for example…. I’m talking to a client, typing this list, eating a banana, and carrying on a conversation with Margo.
7. Sour cream and cottage cream gross me out. Blag.

Now, time to share the love!

thursday cuteness.

How can you not smile when you see these little guys? Margo and I had a blast volunteering last night. Our favorite was 'Lil Bow Wow', the pup in the lower middle spot. He was hilarious. Clearly he was not cooperating for his picture - his eyes were closed!

a favorite moment.

So rarely do we have an airport story that ends in success so I thought I would share one....

Last year I went on a company trip to Cabo (how lucky was I!) and we were traveling back to Charleston through Atlanta after a lovely week in Mexico.

Anyone who knows what it's like traveling through Atlanta knows the pain we were all expecting - rarely do you make your flight because the connections are so tight and the staff seemingly get a kick out of slamming the door in your face.

Our flight out of Cabo was of course running late, which means we got into Atlanta with 20 minutes to run from the International terminal to the opposite end of airport. We were a group of over 50 - people of all ages and sizes and decided to let the most in shape run ahead and try to get them to hold our plane.

"I'm sorry, you're too late." the gate attendant told us.

We were devastated. And mad. The plane was still at our gate. Hadn't pulled out. Just. Sitting. There. The plane must have had 5 people on it, no lie. Because the other 50 people heading to Charleston were behind us.... huffing and puffing through the Charleston airport to make it to this flight.

We decided to take things into our own hands. Like any self respected adults - we started banging on the airport windows, holding signs - doing anything to get the pilots attention.

The airport staffer told us we were wasting our time. She had closed out the flight.

But then a miracle happened.

With a smile on his face, the pilot turned off the plane, opened the door, and ordered the terminal connector back out.

This is what happened aftewards. (yeah, that's me, standing on the chairs...)

Send me your choice between the green and blue frame plus your mailing information! xoxo

sometimes creativity takes an interesting turn.

This is such a curious thing? Does fruit really bruise this easily? I love me some Etsy and one of the reasons is this - where else would you ever see anything like these little numbers? Too funny.
If your fruit is in need of some knitwear... click here.

spotlight: elise moran

While in Milwaukee, I discovered a new jewelry artist I love: Elise Moran. (Don't you love the name Elise... it's just beautiful....)

Her jewelry is nature inspired, beautifully intricate, and clearly well made. She has a special technique to make the silver look like a whitish silver which sounds weird but you'll see what I mean in the pictures. I love. Someday I will own one of her poppy pieces.

Her website is under construction but if you google her you will find many places that feature/sell her items.

i'm home..... five pounds heavier...

Hiiiiiiiiiii! I've missed you! I'm back from my amazing weekend with my college girlfriends. It feels great to be home, in my pjs, cuddling with Gus and catching up on your lives (through your blogs of course) but I loved every minute in Milwaukee.

In looking back at my pictures, apparently I took more of the food I ate than of me with my friends. Whoops. What can I say... I'm a girl from Wisconsin. We like our food fried, cheesy, and keep 'em coming.

We started the weekend by giving our sweet Erin a wee little baby shower since we couldn't make her official ones. She bawled at the clothing line of girls clothes. (always a hit!)
We spent the next day walking around Milwaukee.... first shopping (of course) and then hit the Zoo since they were having a 'Taste of...' of sorts where all the best restaurants were set up in the zoo for our consumption. OH. MAN. It was good. I won't list what I ate.... it's horrifying but here are a few pictures from our day.
The best, however, were fried cheese curds that night. (Don't judge) I have been dreaming of them for the last few months. They lived up to any and all expectations.
We wrapped up our weekend with a walk on the lake front, picnic in the park, and amazing dinner at Erica's favorite Italian restaurant in Milwaukee. I now present you with the 'Big Ass Canoli Martini' I think the picture speaks for itself.
Again, apologies for all the food pictures. Apparently I was really excited about what I was eating. Now I need to get excited about getting what I ate OFF my body.
Happy Monday!
PS - Don't forget about the giveaway! Ends tomorrow evening!!

yay or nay?

These interest me. But I'm not sure if it's "I love them they're so unique" interest or more a "these are interesting but in a weird way" interesting.
What do you think?? Found at LuLu's....

date night at home

I've had a busy week and it's only getting busier. I was out Monday and Tuesday for work. Tonight I have a girls night which I'm really looking forward too. Tomorrow I leave for Milwaukee (!!!!) to see my college girls for three full days!!!

My reason for telling you all of this is because I demanded from Guy that we have date night last night because it was the only night I would see him all week. He happily complied and went above and beyond as usual.
I came home to steak and onion rings which were amazing but the best part was the chocolate fondue. Such a sweet surprise!
PS - please ignore my nappiness. It had been a long, hot day.
PPS - Mayra, please notice what show we're watching! Season Two baby!

call me crazy....

...but Payless' shoe buyers are on point! Uber Chic for Cheap brought these beauties to my attention and I have to say I'd wear them all!
Looks like I need to find me a Payless in Charleston asap.

this drives me insane.

Are people really this ignorant? Do you REALLY think our president is Socialist or trying to practice socialism in our country? How disrespectful do you have to be to create the above poster?
And who heard about the big to do around Michelle Obama wearing SHORTS ON VACATAION. {gasp} Is that really news worthy?!?

three cities in less than 24 hours

I'm in D.C.! Came here for work, through Charlotte, and have two quick meetings tomorrow before heading right back home. Benefit of traveling is getting to see family and friends on my companies dime. D.C. is a special place because my brother and sister in law live here so it was great to have dinner with them. We hit Los Tios (which was great!) and then hit up Dairy Godmother which was unbelieveable.

Dairy Godmother serves Wisconsin custard which I haven't had in YEARS. I'm from Wisconsin, as most of you know by now, so it was an extra special treat to get something from past on this trip. I highly recommend this place for anyone in the Alexandria area...

Hope you're all having a wonderful Monday! xo

on the prowl

Gus was on the hunt recently... apparently the huntee knew he couldn't get at him and teased him for a good 20 minutes. Poor Gussie....
See the little gecko?

weekend wrap up

This weekend I:

- finished Mad Men Season 1. Ordered Season 2 immediately. DVRing Season 3 which airs tonight!

- Ate almost an entire bloomin' onion on my own. Loved every minute of it.
- Had a lovely brunch with Guy at one of my favorite lunch spots that just started doing Saturday brunch. Yummmmm.

- Watched WAY more golf than I ever intended. If I wanted to be with my Guy, I had to embrace a weekend of golf. Sigh...

- Celebrated my sweet Allison's birthday with a great meal on the water. Guy's order pictured below. It stared at me my entire meal. Uncomfortable doesn't begin to describe it. {picture removed due to gross out factor}

- Post meal & uncomfortable staring, we drank at the Cabana Bar and laughed until late in the evening.

Nicole, Allison, Les & me

- This morning I saw this little man get christened and attended the most fab after christening brunch EVER. I wanted to take pictures but there was actually a photographer snapping shots for a magazine so my amateur shots were off limits. Boo.

leather jacket - 1 ; morgan - 0

Remember this post about said jacket shown below?

Well I received it in the mail today. I ran to my room, ripped the packaging open, lovingly put the jacket on immediately, and then....

I don't like it. At all. It's just not right. I can't explain it. It looks exactly as pictured, is lovely on a hanger, but not so much on me.

Back to the drawing board....

rain + live music = awesome

At least a warm summer rain is awesome. We went to the Darius show last night and despite Mother Nature's attempts to ruin the evening - we had a blast.

Some takeaways from the evening:

1. Dierks Bentley (sp?) opened for Darius and is F-I-N-E. How did I not know this man existed?
2. Guy and his brother decided women look better in the rain. (I disagree with this statement as I ended up looking like a wet dog and for that reason did not post the picture of Guy and I together. It wasn't pretty.)
3. 'Let Her Cry' is still an amazing song.
4.Thursday night fun makes Friday's that much better.

Hope you're having a great Friday. TGIF!
